Big Flag | Inclusive Pride
In 1978, artist Gilbert Baker designed the original rainbow flag. An iconic symbol of LGBTQ+ unity. So much has happened since then. A lot of good, but there’s more we can do especially when it comes to recognising people of colour in the LGBTQ+ community. To fuel this important conversation, we’ve expanded the colours of the flag to include black and brown. It may seem like a small step. But together we can make big strides toward a truly inclusive community (by morecolormorepride.com).
"We are at this moment where so many people now understand the need for an LGBTQ flag that centres Black lives, voices, and leadership. We’re never going to stop letting ourselves, each other, and the whole damn world knows that our liberation has always been led by BIPOC queer and trans folks-- and when we do get free when we get free together, it will be with Black and Brown queer & trans folks at the front."
